1-DOT.com (one-dash-dot) is a collection of compact utilitarian web pages. Priority goes to function, loading speed,
minimalism and efficiency instead of flashy presentation. Even so, our motto "less eye-candy, more results" might be
a bit ironic. Category images on our home page might be more eye-candy than found on our corresponding web pages.

1-dot.com consolidates web pages from "retired" web domains like xradio.us, newcityvegas.com, and gooplusplus.com.
The ancient New City Vegas had a major makeover ( 1-dot.com/las-vegas/ ) However, pages from Gooplusplus
(search and links) are not updated and, while still useful, will likely contain lots of broken links, etc.

• Development goals for our customizable bookmarks landing page: keep it simple, light, compact and fast. We added

Weather ( / weather )

• 1-dot.com weather is more "location accurate" than most weather sites. Output is based on latitude and longitude.
  Our data and charts come from Darksky.net while extra code was added to translate a zip code into latitude and
  longitude. We chose to display only the most relevant quick glance basic data and charts. However, for even more
  detailed information or for other 7-day forecast days, click on the "More at Dark Sky" link and optionally cursor
  down to click on a specific day. If wanted, view that day's charts by clicking the blue button "MORE DETAILS".

• Maybe it's just us but we find most radio sites like Tune-in, iHeart, Slacker, Accuradio, etc. to be annoying. Yes,
  they have tons of stations but also way too much advertising, confusing navigation, popups, and visual distractions.
  Our alternative is a simple one-screen collection of click-to-play stations Our newest green background "GO" version
  has 70 stations and is simpler and easier to maintain than an older ( / radio ) color-coded categories version.

  Old version:  Cursor over a button to see station details or click on the upper left corner-wave or X button to see a station list. 
                   In addition to our main radio jukebox of 200+ color-coded stations, most music/news categories are also available
                   as category-focused "mini" jukeboxes (356 pixels wide) well-adapted for smartphone use.

• T-P-P is a practical, one-screen, no-ads time zone web site. Each of 200+ "places" also link to a city, state
  or country Wikipedia page. English-speaking countries feature native-speaker place pronunciation (audio) for
  each city or state. Unlike other time web sites, ours is organized with highlights for quick focus on the most
  relevant information. Nations sharing the same time are grouped together regardless of actual time zone names.
  We keep information compact on a single screen. You don't have to search through page after page hunting for
  what is relevant to you. This is a also a good site to learn correct English pronunciation of place names.

Las Vegas ( / las-vegas / )

• Las Vegas BEST QUICK is our compact alternative to the hype and irrelevance of thousands of web sites related to
  Las Vegas. Whether Las Vegas local or visitor, why wade through so many glitzy web sites filled with advertising
  when you might just want an easy resource to quick information, quick links, local weather, maybe a quick glance 
  at the local newspaper, local maps / demographic data, government help, or a travel-guide page? BEST QUICK is not
  flashy. It is a minimalist way to get to what you are most often looking for quickly and easily. It does not have
  detailed information about hotels and casinos. For that, other more proprietary and biased sites are much better.
  FYI, we also added a nice bar of click-to-play music/news radio stations to listen to during your visit. 

Vegas Southwest ( / las-vegas / southwest )

• Our Vegas Southwest page features a custom map showing, on the right, major roads in the southwest part of the
  Las Vegas valley and, on the left, the terrain and location of popular hiking areas nearby. Below that are Google
  maps and links for many neighborhoods that make up the southwest area. On the next line of click buttons, you will
  find tennis / hiking maps and groups, a valley crime map, demographic data for several neighborhoods, a map of
  Las Vegas valley major roads and neighborhoods, area weather, and two zip code maps of the Las Vegas valley. 

Tennis Courts ( / las-vegas / tennis-courts )

• We made a click-on-pointer interactive Google map of 80+ public tennis courts in the Las Vegas valley. Below that
  are detailed information and map links for each tennis court location. Cursor over the Las Vegas tennis logo to 
  reveal a purple boundary overlay that roughly corresponds to major areas of the Las Vegas valley.

• We like map minimalism. Just show us the whole Google map in wide screen without unwanted side panel distraction.
  Using zoom number (7-20) plus latitude and longitude coordinates, make your own map links in standard, satellite, 
  or terrain format. We especially like our custom map links for location posting to hiking and tennis events. 

Western States ( / western-states ) Western States for Dummies - Nevada and Oregon with audio and Youtube examples

• Hey, we all have our pet peeves. Ours is how many of our Eastern and Southern friends continue to mispronounce our
  western states. Why this lack of regional education? As to Nevada, the usual excuse is that it is a Spanish word.
  However, so are California, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Montana and New Mexico. In English, all state names of Spanish
  derivation have been anglicized, i.e, they are different in English and Spanish. For Oregon ?? -- no Spanish excuse.

• Thinking of becoming an expat overseas? While doing research, we found expat information was not well organized. So,
  we make it easier by comparing cost-of-living of over 20 world cities, including 4 American cities. We used the
  comparison sites Numbeo and Expatistan plus Wikipedia, ExpatBlog, WeatherSpark and Google map for each city.

• Easy one-click "headphones-only" audio hearing testing for single ear frequencies from 16 Hz to 20k Hz plus
  left-right-center-surround audio output test, white noise and pink noise tests, linear and logarithmic sweep.
  For test accuracy, we require quality full frequency flat response (studio) headphones like Sony MDR-V6.
  Your right ear is the default for frequency tests. For left ear testing, reverse headphone placement.

• Our Dark Audio Player version of Music Folder Player (GitHub) was created for audio file evaluation while building
  some of our web pages. MFP was designed for music but our version is optimized to be a highly organized and compact
  way to compare and test audio clips. Our hosted folders focus mostly on audio pronuncation of cities, states, and
  countries. We also host a few music clips in MP3 M4A OGG OPUS FLAC and WAV formats. (Note: open-source OGG and OPUS
  files are not yet supported in Apple products.) If you have a non-copyrighted audio file collection that you may

• This is our handy thumbnail utility for our small collection of clip art. Although small, our clipart has been
  been optimized to small, fast-loading file sizes. Most inages have transparent backgrounds to make it easy to
  combine to make your own custom art and images. Use the number parameter to adjust the image height of all clip
  art displays. Click the top-left W, B or L buttons to display images with white, black or lightgray background.    

Too Many Links ( / links )

• Too Many Links is an unmaintained text-only directory of links in several categories. It was part of gooplusplus.com
  However, links and web sites quickly change and disappear. So, many links will be broken. Despite that, we still use
  it and we think that some of you may find it useful too. This is an archive feature and will not be updated.
