1-DOT.com/go "readable" START PAGE

Our start page may be more useful than others. When possible, we use larger see at a glance fonts while keeping content compact, minimalist and organized. 1-DOT.com is a truly free website - no ads and no tracking.

Designed for Chrome-based browsers (including MS Edge), the site also works fine with Firefox, etc. There are 3 customizable URL startup options:

1. basic - audio/video and a small menu box of 7 user-created TinyURL links
2. plus! - "basic" + dozens of buttons to useful popular and unique websites
3. tilde - a hex color (ex: ~112266~) "no image" background version of plus!
~292b3d~
From our desert sunset theme landing page, you can instantly change to plus! mode or links (tilde) mode by clicking the corresponding icon.

The retro appearance is quick and practical, not fancy. Options to personalize appearance are made with simple changes to webpage URLs.

This site is not intended for mobile phone use. For desktop, our DSF "display sizing factor" is used to calculate/guess the best fit for the page. On common 1366x768 notebook screens, DSF should be close to 100%.

You can adjust DSF from 10% to 399% for a better fit or for more spacing. To find your current DSF and more, click on the 92% button. To resize, add your new DSF% to the website URL address: (1) https://1-dot.com/go/?90%
(2) 1-dot.com/go/?92%,plus!,wallpaperaccess.com/full/1244199.jpg (new background)

Particularly in plus! and tilde modes, you may discover many new and useful web links. Did you also add 7 of your own personal Custom Links to your @@TinyURL User Links box?

From the TinyURL.com website, easily create free shortcuts (as random characters like yv8ybw3v or your own short name like vegas-map).

Try example URLs below using 2 and 5 TinyURL shortcuts.

Tilde Color Option (no image = no distraction)
Instead of a background image, you may prefer something more basic:
just add hex-color-code (between 2 tildes) to the URL.
Try: https://1-dot.com/go/?90%,~008080~[@@#=(tinyURL)code,label pairs]

For a more unique look, try these alternate background image links:

To change button colors, replace go/ with b1-b9 URLs (click examples):

If you add ?40 or ?99 (no % character) to the URL, you will only see our sea floor background image. Originally a coding bug, now it is an unintended hidden feature. It looks nice on my big screen HP Chromebase monitor.

While web browsing, in the background, you may listen to music, live news, etc. We added a unique "click-button-to-play" compact radio section. (Also available as a separate online radio only mobile phone or desktop page.)

We include 70+ radio stations of many types including English-language stations from around the world for live news from MSNBC, BBC, CBC, NPR and ESPN. Music genres include ambient, classical, urban, blues, rock, R&B/hiphop, alternative, country, jazz, punk, gospel, retro and more.

The bottom row features nine college stations, several oldies stations and four Spanish language stations. College radio is often rotating mixed-genre (after midnight, indie/alternative is common).

Shoutcast and
Icecast streams
For years, Google Chrome and Firefox played Shoutcast and Icecast streams in web-based players and directly in the browser. Firefox still does. However, market-dominant Chrome now plays these streams directly but not in web radio players.

So, I retired some great stations to stay compatible. However, I added back "incompatible" CBC Hourly News and MSNBC Live to the @@User Links box.
We added Radio Garden (click globe) to listen to radio stations in your area or around the globe. From the map, click on minus sign (lower right) a few times and move circle to a new place on the map.

Problem: You click on the suggested "top center" part of a radio button but nothing seems to happen.
Solution: Don't click until you see the red hover color. Also try double-clicking on the button. It usually works. If not, click on the (pause) control and then click the station button.

I find that it is a good habit to always click pause before clicking on a new station button. I also find that clicking at the top center of a radio button works best.
